Bangalore (Karnataka) [India], September 12: FermionIC Design Pvt. Ltd., a fabless RFIC design company based in Bangalore, today announced a strategic partnership with Tata Electronics. This collaboration will focus on advanced wafer-level testing, packaging, and post-silicon validation. The partnership is aimed at accelerating the production of FermionIC’s indigenously designed and fully owned 4-Channel X-Band Beamformer IC, which was created for next-generation TDD Phased Array Antennas.
The FD3R4411 Beamformer IC is a groundbreaking innovation from India, marking a significant milestone for the country’s semiconductor and radar technology ecosystem. By enabling compact and high-performance phased array systems, this chip addresses the needs of applications like ranging radars, imaging radars, and next-generation surveillance platforms. The IC is already being adopted by various public and private organizations, boosting India’s capacity to develop its own indigenous phased array radar solutions.
As part of this agreement, Tata Electronics will serve as the Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) partner. They will be responsible for flip-chip ball grid array (FcBGA) assembly and wafer-level testing. This partnership between FermionIC Design and Tata Electronics highlights the growing collaboration between India’s semiconductor design innovators and their advanced manufacturing partners.
“Our collaboration with Tata Electronics allows us to take this complex IC, which was fully designed and developed in India, from the design phase to staggered volume production on an accelerated timeline starting in Q4 2025,” said Gautam Kumar Singh, CEO of FermionIC Design. “This also guarantees that nearly the entire manufacturing value chain remains within India.”
